The UNSW Village student housing project by Architectus received the Residential Architecture - Multiple Housing Award at the Australian Institute of Architects NSW Chapter awards on Friday 18th June.
The jurors commended the UNSW Village for its timelessness.
"There is a counter-play between the rational architecture, the terrain and mature trees, that overcomes the institutional to give the precinct warmth and delightfulness. The balance of the plan in the public and private spaces is equalled in beauty to the balance this building offers between its institutional type and its presence as a home for more than 1000 students. The building composes a timeless response with its particularity; one which will receive the joy of many generations of students and be representative of a positive attitude to student housing in our time."
