Wallarah Peninsula

Wallarah Peninsula

Wallarah Peninsula is a model new release development on 605 ha in the Lake Macquarie LGA. Architectus prepared the Built Form Management Plan (BFMP) and assisted with the Wallarah Peninsula Master Plan.

The BFMP provides performance based design guidelines for ESD and energy efficiency, water sensitive urban design, building on sloping sites, pedestrian orientated development and building in ecologically sensitive locations as well as specific guidelines for each precinct.

The design guidelines ensure an appropriate level of flexibility in determining the precise location of development within each precinct. This allows detailed site planning to achieve the best configuration for buildings, roads and other works to minimise environmental impacts. The design guidelines provide for diversity in the built form to achieve appropriate responses to the landscape character and urban design objectives for each precinct.

The Master Plan and BFMP are seen as models for sensitive coastal development by the NSW Department of Planning, and by Lake Macquarie City Council.

Architectus prepared Design Essentials, the housing guidelines for Murrays Beach which is the first development stage on the wooded slopes at Lake Macquarie.
