Bluewater Quay Mackay

Bluewater Quay Mackay

Mackay Regional Council has now been focusing on the revitalisation of the CBD and the reorientation of the CBD towards the waterfront for several years.

The Mackay Bluewater Quay project was assisted by funding from the Queensland State Government's ‘150 Years of Statehood' program and provides a space of celebration and riverside recreation.

The scheme comprises a generous waterside deck with a café and stage which evokes the pre-existing wharf structure of the area; a public square; market areas; a playground with water play feature; and grassy terraces to accommodate a calendar of events.

Key design elements include long multi-faceted seating walls and ‘origami roofs' which give the space a strong presence within a future busy mixed use precinct.
