Peter Dawson has worked in architecture and design since 1978. His career spans a diverse range of building types and project roles, including leading design teams on education facilities, master plans and residential, commercial and aged care projects.

He enjoys working in collaboration with clients to optimise project outcomes. Throughout his career, Peter has built a strong network comprising clients, contractors and colleagues.

Peter’s portfolio encompasses milestone projects, including the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Australia’s largest public healthcare facility to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating, and the James Cook University Clinical Practices Building, a climatically responsive tropical pavilion that will become a flagship building of the Townsville campus.

Recent projects have allowed Peter to develop his interest in pedagogy and learning environments, as was the case with the Villanova College Teaching and Learning Centre, a contemporary education environment developed from first principles with teachers and college leadership. He is also Project Leader for the Brisbane Catholic Education P-12 Campus at Aura, an emerging community on the Sunshine Coast where the 21st Century teaching and learning principles will be integrated into the town centre.

Peter’s work is underpinned by a belief in the capacity of architecture and design to inspire people and improve their day-to-day lives.
