Melbourne’s tallest tower gains approval

22 February 2017

Melbourne’s Southbank will soon be home to the city’s newest, tallest tower, with the approval of One Queensbridge Street last week. As the executive architect on the project, Architectus is excited to be working with British design architect WilkinsonEyre and clients Crown Resorts / Schiavello Group on the $2 billion hotel and apartment complex.

Standing at a staggering 323 metres tall, the tower is the latest to walk into Australia’s hall of fame, exceeding the height of Melbourne’s current tallest building, Eureka, by 26 metres. Home to 700 apartments and 388 rooms in a 6 star hotel, the development will also see the regeneration of the public space surrounding it, with more than $40 million in upgrades poised to provide significant public benefit and amenity.

The projects extends Architectus’ legacy of partnering with leading global architecture firms on projects that bring international acclaim and fresh vision, such as the State Library of Victoria with Schmidt Hammer Lassen, the Art Gallery of NSW Sydney Modern Project with SANAA, and Brookfield’s Wynyard Place with Make Architects.
