Dean is National Sector Leader of Urban Design and Planning. He has over 25 years of experience in design in private and public sectors. He is currently leading the urban design for the Victorian State Government’s Suburban Rail Loop, a major public infrastructure project that will link key suburban hubs throughout middle Melbourne.

With a career that began in landscape architecture, Dean’s interest and expertise has evolved into broader city-shaping and urban design of major projects. He is highly experienced in master planning, strategic urban design, design review and urban renewal.

Dean’s career has seen him work in government roles and in large national design studios. He has led design teams on major public design projects including complex land developments, mixed-use infill sites and precincts across Victoria and New South Wales.

A respected, leading urban designer, Dean is a member of the Office of the Victorian Government Architect’s Design Review Panel and a former member of the Level Crossing Removal Authority’s Urban Design Advisory Panel. His association with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects included a 2-year term on the Victorian Executive and roles on AILA design juries, education committees and public sector committees. Dean was a jury member on the 2017 Victorian Urban Development Institute of Australia Awards.
