Architectus celebrates the opening night for Barrack Place

1 March 2019

With a distinctive and contemporary character that responds to both the surrounding context and the ever-changing needs of the commercial tenant market, Barrack Place is in the middle of one of Sydney’s longest street blocks at 151 Clarence Street, and is distinguished by its through-site link that is a pedestrian gateway to the emerging western corridor of central Sydney. A unique landmark A-Grade 18-storey office building, Barrack Place adds vitality and quality to the mix of buildings in Sydney’s CBD while providing significant public benefit.

The precinct bounded by York, King, Kent and Erskine Streets includes several significant heritage items and retains elements of the traditional warehouse quarter of central Sydney typified by the masonry buildings and networks of lanes, internal courtyards and narrow frontages. Architectus’ design responds to this rich and diverse context through careful consideration of the ground plane, street wall and podium elements, and response to adjacent buildings.

Architectus Principal, Colin Odbert and Associate, Andrew Dowe were among the guests celebrating the realisation of Barrack Place at last week’s event.
