Architectus announces expansion with new Perth studio

Architectus expands to the West Coast

Architectus today announced that it is expanding its services with a new studio in Perth, Western Australia. The development of the Perth studio will be led by Studio Leader, Mark Mitcheson-Low.

Architectus plans to hire 20 to 30 people to work in the new studio, to be situated on St George’s Terrace, within the next 18 months. The new team will add to the over 350 people currently employed by Architectus.

Architectus Managing Director Ray Brown said: “With a permanent studio in Perth, we now have the ability to fully service our clients nationally, and build our Perth portfolio which includes residential developments ‘Islands’ at South Beach and The Esplanade on the site of the historic Steve’s Hotel in Nedlands, and the Waterbank development with Lendlease

“Like all Australian cities, Perth is rapidly embracing higher density living with all the benefits of engaging, active and walkable town centres which will be supported by projects such as Metronet. We are looking forward to contributing to these transformative, city making projects across the rail, urban design and planning, and mixed-use sectors.”

Renowned design architect Paul Jones who has been working with Architectus for the past two years will work alongside Mark and the team to form one of the most experienced studios to enter the Perth market.

Mitcheson-Low brings to Architectus over 30 years’ experience in all stages of architectural design working on projects across Australia, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. He also has a wealth of expertise in establishing new architectural studios, having formed studios across the globe for other international practices.

The Perth team will work alongside Architectus’ Melbourne and Sydney studios, explains Ray Brown: “Collaboration is an integral part of our success. The team in Perth will not only be working on local projects but also on projects across the country.”

The announcement follows a period of continued growth for Architectus with recent major project wins including the landmark Sydney skyscraper at 505 George Street for Mirvac and Coombes Property, and the Rail Infrastructure Alliance for Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project.
